The National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) has been created by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India on January 24, 1997. The company is registered under Section 25 of the Companies Act 1956 not as a for-profit company. It is wholly owned by the Government of India and has an authorized capital of Rs. 400 million rupees (Rs Four crores only). The company is managed by the Board of Directors appointed by the Government of India.
