Tripura Medical College and Dr. BR Ambedkar Memorial Teaching Hospital performed the first bi-lateral total hip replacement with MOM (metal on metal) Operation thereby adding another first to its repertoire of "firsts" in the History of Medicine of Tripura. This is the first time that a bi-lateral total hip replacement was carried out not only in Tripura, but in eastern India and all of this extremely complicated operation was performed by a nationally renowned surgeon Dr. Rakesh Rajput.
