The National Science Center is a constituent unit of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. It is a pioneering institute dedicated to the popularization of science among people of the northern part of India in general and students in particular. It was opened on January 9, 1992 by then Prime Minister of India. Since opening, the Centre has provided yeoman services in the cause of science popularisation.
