NFL was incorporated on August 23, 1974, with two manufacturing units in Bathinda and Panipat. Subsequently, on the reorganization of group companies of fertilizers in 1978, Nangal Unit of Fertilizer Corporation of India fell under the fold of the NFL. The company expanded its installed capacity in 1988 for the installation and commissioning of gas herbal Vijaipur in Madhya Pradesh.
