Invites applications from unmarried Male candidates for enrolment as Sailors for Senior Secondary Recruits (SSR)-2/2010 Batch (Course Commencing 02 Aug 2010)

Applications are invited from unmarried Male Indian Citizens and male subjects of Nepal and Bhutan.

•Educational Qualification: Qualified on in 10+2/ equivalent examination with Maths and Physics and atleast one of these subjects; Chemistry/ Biology/ Computer Science.

•Age: Candidates should have been born between (01 Aug 1989 to 31 July 1993 both dates inclusive)

During the initial training period, stipend of Rs. 5700/- pm will be admissible but on successful completion of initial training and amount equal to the minimum of scale as mentioned below, less stipend already paid, shall be admissible with retrospective effect.

On completion of initial training, they will be placed in the Pay Band of Rs. 5200-20200. In addition they will be paid Grade Pay @ Rs. 2000/- plus MSP @ Rs. 2000/- plus DA.

1.Naval Academy Ezhimala(NAVAC) is located at in the Kannur (Cannanore) District of Kerala, which forms a part of its North Malabar Region. Nestled between the imposing Mount Dilli, serene  Kavvayi  backwaters  and majestic  Arabian Sea, NAVAC provides an idyllic setting for training with its picturesque and tranquil   environment.   This is the  premier training establishment of the Indian Navy  and  will  conduct  the  basic  training for  all  officers being inducted into the Indian Navy under various schemes.  INS Zamorin  is  the base depot ship  for  administrative  and  logistic  support  for NAVAC.

2.NAVAC has  been  specifically  formulated to  mould you into a morally upright, physically robust, mentally alert and technologically aware professional, dedicated to  excellence.  The  implementation  of the curriculum is oriented to ensure  a  clean  break  from  the  traditional strait jacketed mentality and infuse in  you  a  sense  of    innovativeness, creativity, resourcefulness and a passion for excellence. The staff is committed to impart the highest quality of training, and to mould trainees into officers and gentlemen/ladies

3.Location.    Naval Academy, Ezhimala is situated approximately 35 km North of Kannur (Cannanore) and 135 km South of Mangalore, on the West Coast of peninsular India.

4.Accessibility.   NAVAC is  well  connected  by  rail  and  road. The  nearest railway station is at Payyanur, a town located 12 km away from the Naval base. Payyanur is situated along NH 17 between Mangalore and Kannur. The broad gauge railway line links Payyanur to Mumbai and other major cities in Western,  Central  and  Northern  India  via the Konkan Railway. The broad gauge rail network also links Payyanur to Chennai and other major cities in Eastern India (via Chennai) and Southern India (via Palakkad). The nearest airport is  located at  Mangalore, about 150 km from INS Zamorin. There is regular private bus service between INS Zamorin, Payyanur and Kannur.
